In this species the inner white costa (longitudinal ridge) of each elytron is straight and continues almost to the tip of the elytron, while the outer costa is shorter. The prothorax is dark orange with a black stripe on each side. Syllitus rectus is found on blossom of native shrubs such as Bursaria; it is also attracted to electric lights at night.
