This species is mostly associated with rivers of the sub-coastal ranges from Victoria to SE Queensland, with outlying records from South Australia and Carnarvon Gorge in Queensland. A record of a male from Cook on 24 March 2018, and an earlier record of a female from Aranda on 1 April 2010 (which was only more recently included in Atlas of Living Australia), suggest that this species may be a natural resident of the ACT. If so this is the only known location for the species inland of the Great Dividing range.
