I am finding it difficult to be sure of the id for this species - the underside of the leaf is supposed to be purple which I have not seen in a plant I saw recently.

Personally I am doubtful of past Identifications of this species, but in saying that it is not a plant I know well. My understanding is that several specimens of "Senecio microbasis" have been collected, has anything actually come of that?

As far as I remember, Barb passed to me 2 specimens which she collected in the area and I passed them on to Isobel for id - I think one specimen was without roots and the other one was not fresh. We have it on the Flora list so I assume it was positively id-ed . Barb do you remember?

No, it was not identified by Isobel - went rotten or something before she got to it. So I am still trying to source another plant. The site on Mt Majura where they were present the last 2 years has been disturbed and the red anther wallaby grass has taken over, and I have not found the "S. microbasis" there this spring. But I saw what could be another plant further down the track so I will return to that. In the meantime there are several sightings showing on S. quadridentatus with the dark flower colour but the ones I've seen on Majura and at Bluetts (Blewitts) block were not cottony. Hope to get seeds as they are supposedly distinctive.

Another photo added, showing a bit of leaves.
Plant may be too tall for Senecio microbasis.
An alternative possibility is that this is one of the many forms of Senecio linearifolius.
