The Fuscicepsana Group moths I see online all have dark banding which seems to be absent here.

It isn't F. fuscicepsana, but a nearby undescribed species that appears on BOLD as Conchylis sp.ANIC1

Conchylis is an old invalid genus name that doesn't appear on AFD or the Checklist (except as a synonym of current names). Fuscicepsana is the correct genus.

It seems Conchylis is a synonym of Cochylis which is the valid name for the genus. However most of the Australian species that were in Conchylis seem to have moved to other genera, not always Fuscepsana. Searching ALA for Conchylis shows the list. My moth does seem to be an excellent match for the specimen on BOLD, that specimen is misnamed and should probably at be Cochylis, unless/until examination shows it to be a member of one of the other genera.

Yes, many Torticinae were originally described in Conchylis and have since been moved to other genera (across several families). Since the species in this report hasn't been described, it doesn't formally belong to any genus, but it is placed alongside Fuscepsana fuscepsana at ANIC following studies of the Tortricinae. Conchylis isn't a valid name because it was synonymised with Cochylis, and Cochylis has only one described species, an introduced one. There isn't any indication that the species in this record is associated with Cochylis.

Fair enough, I wouldn’t argue with ANIC, not about moths anyway, and it certainly doesn’t look like any of the international Cochylis images on the internet.
