The images are a follow up to sighting 4374600 and provide greater detail of the wasp forming its mud nest in a mortar joint behind a down-pipe. The wasp was vibrating its jaws to liquify the mud and make it easier to shape into place as was evidenced by a high frequency sound coming from the wasp. The second image clearly shows the wasp holding the ball of mud which is partially liquified in the vicinity of its jaws. The images also show the wasp’s ability to form the mud nest whilst facing into or out of the nest.
