shape of 'tail' - Entometa tend to have ~ cylindrical 'tail' stump, wattle species 'tail' is like stump of acacia twig, triangular in profile, other genus more colour, hairier etc

that is the general idea. Humans may not wish to eat or parisitize them BUT I once foolishly showed my neighbour some on his street tree. The ones I showed him were not there next time I looked, ones I had not shown him were.
