Hi Citycritters, yes it could be Typha domingensis but in the photo the inflorescence spike looks almost black: if it really is, then this influences the ID.
Are you able to say what the colour of the spike was ? or perhaps even take add in another photo showing the spike colour /

Based on BOLD (Hobern) I think he feathery forewing margins and the palps would fit Philobota homochroa. I don't see the blackish antennae of many Z. carus seen elsewhere.
