Merrinella tandanya

following description is taken from Otte and Alexander p.364-365 The Australian Crickets (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) Monograph 22. Academy Nat. Sci. Phil. 1983.

males: forewings longer than pronotum but shorter than head plus pronotum. hindwings shorter than forewings. dorsal side of abdomen has two closely spaced median dark stripes, with broad black bands along the sides. tympana present on inner and outer faces of tibia I. tibia III with 7-8 inner and 6 outer subapical spurs. tibia I length greater than median pronotal length. body length to end of abdomen 8-12mm. femur length 7mm. cerci about 0.3 length of femur III.

females: very similar to males in colour. hindwings absent. forewings rounded, slightly overlapping medially and as long as pronotum or slightly longer. ovipositor 1.41-1.64 X as long as femur III and very thick at base. body length to end of abdomen 9-12mm, femur III length 8.5-9.5mm.
