One of 3 large species of Chalcopteroides in the region. Common in and around Canberra. It is shorter than the other 2 species, has a rounder (ovate) shape and the 'rainbow' colours often have a bronzy tinge (missing from C. columbinus and C. cupripennis). As in C. columbinus, the elytra carry tiny punctures in longitudinal rows (striae), but the punctures are much closer together, and generally shallower, than those of C. columbinus.
