Sceliphron formosum (Formosum mud-dauber)

A key to identifying Sceliphron species can be found at:

http://museum.wa.gov.au/research/collections/terrestrial-zoology/entomology-insect-collection/entomology-factsheets/sceliphron

A quick way to distinguish the two local species of Sceliphron is to look at the colour of the hind legs: in S. laetum the femur and tibia (the two longest segments) each have the base yellow and the apical (end) half black, while in S. formosum these parts are reddish-orange.

Sceliphron formosum is listed in the following regions:

Canberra & Southern Tablelands  |  Albury, Wodonga  |  South Coast
