This is a match for Quercus canariensis which is planted in some suburbs, such as Hughes Place, Hughes.

Mike the key feature to distinguish Algarian oak from English Oak is whether or not the underside of the leaf (particularly the mid vein) is hairy.Did you happen to notice

I was going on the fact it is not deciduous. It has more veins and lobes than I expected for Q. robur. I did not inspect for underside hairs - though I did find some with a 10x loupe on the Hughes plantings.
