The strong weeping habit of the leaves would indeed suggest X. malacophylla, on account of the spongey texture, a very distinctive characteristic of the species, whereby all other arborescent Xanthorrhoea possess the very tough, sclerophytic leaves and would not necessarily exhibit such a prominent weeping habit. The leaves also appear too narrow for X. latifolia. X. malacophylla is a species known to habit Watagans NP.

This may be Barrington Tops. There is a very significant swarm of X. glauca subsp. glauca across the north-eastern face of Mount Cabre Bald.

The packing-bracts over the flower spike (pre-anthesis) are green in this specimen indicating X. preissii, in X. drummondii these would typically be dark-brown, the geographic location at this latitude is also inconsistent with the distribution of X. drummondii, which occurs further inland.

That’s a really good suggestion. I’ll follow it up

Xanthorrhoea would be better placed in with lilies.
