Unfortunately, C. australis is the street tree species of Knox Street, the main Street in Watson and thus we will be dealing with invasion as long as the trees are fruiting .... Fortunately Nettle trees along Knox street that die are replaced with a different species, not sure which, but hopefully not, or less invasive...
and look at what is under them! This is a wet area where a gully spreads out - full of cleavers, phalaris and horehound - as well as the big woody weeds.
I suggest to tackle only perennials such as woody weeds and perhaps horehound if we continue work in this paddock; it would be inappropriate that volunteers kill themselves to address 150years of inappropriate use and neglect.
