Small red hip present in photo makes me think that this and the other sighting are Banksia rose, which is probably the most commonly planted climbing rose in Canberra
I have added photos of leaves and fruit. Hip is about 8-9mm wide and 10-12 mm long with 10-12 seeds, mostly retained sepals 13mm long. I can't find a botanical key, but it seems to match descriptions of Rosa luciae (or lucieae).
