User's notes

It was hard to see whether it was eating the flower but I have seen several of these in the same flower circumstance so it is likely that feeding is occurring.

The markings look distinctive, but without seeing any detail of the structure I can't start to identify it. If there are any of the beetles still around, I'd like to see images of the head and pronotum, legs, antennae, etc.

Unfortunately they all embedded themselves to hide those characteristics. There are none around ATM - possibly tightly linked to acacia flowering which is all but over in Dryandra Street Woodland.

Problem solved! You had another image of the same insect with more detail visible.
