Wings too broad for Hepialidae, which have relatively narrow wings. Maybe Noctuoidea or Geometroidea, but I do not know any brown ones with vestigial forewing markings.
Several Hesperiidae are brown and have vestigial forewing markings.

Thanks Don. I don't think it is a Hesperiidae or any other butterfly, it looks like a moth to me. I wasn't sure which moth it might be though.
