Seems to have only 3 digits but the yellow spotted underside convinced me it is a Mccoy's skink. Wrong again?

A good record from the suburbs Kevin, thanks for submitting it. This one is Hemiergis talbingoensis (Eastern Three-toed Skink). As you noted, it has three toes and three fingers and this is the main identification feature. McCoys Skink is similar in shape but has five fingers and toes and brown or range eye colour - black in Hemiergis.

It certainly moved like a 3-toed skink but it has such muscular forelegs and the underside pattern is spectacular, not like any of the few other 3-toed skinks we have seen at our place nearby. Juggling the skink, my gloves and the camera led to poor quality photos and I wanted to release it asap.
