AFD and ALA have no Epitymbia caryotis. They do have an Epiphyas caryotis which can be plain fawn with a dark dot in the middle of the forewing.

Of course you are correct, Don. I had been comparing them and ended up confusing the two when writing the scientific name. It seems to occur locally so is likely, but this is really somewhat of a tentative ID I think.

It looks good to me. It even has the dirty mark on the forewing hind margin by the tornus. If I understood Meyrick correctly, this is a female.
