As far as I know, a photo of the larva of only 1 out of the 6 named Australian Acyphas species has been published, and it does not look like this. I agree the 2 reddish glands on the penultimate segments suggest Lymantriinae. But this does not resemble in pattern and colour any of those in the photos 28 Lymantriinae species published in

so is probably one of the 50+ other Australian species in that family.
I do hope you can rear it in protective custody to get an adult moth, Ned, to have a better chance at identifying the species. We do need more identifiable caterpillars.

AH now I think I see a dark anal tuft, and 4 foreshortened dorsal tufts, and one (of a pair) dark diagonal tuft by the head. I wish we had a lateral view.
