The taxonomic status of this moth species is uncertain. The Australian Faunal Directory lists 'Xylina ligniplena;' as a synonym in a Species Inquirenda as does the Atlas of Living Australia. The LBH lists the species as Xylina ligniplena with D. ligniplena as a synonym. The distribution of the species is primarily Tasmania but its distribution online extends into southern Victoria (see iNaturalist). If confirmed this record would extend the range into the ACT. This specimen seems to lack the prominent jagged diagonal lines visible on the forewing of other examples of. D ligniplena online, but in other respects seems to match.
a new species for NatureMapr's canberra and Southern Tablelands region if confirmed.
Excellent photos.
