These birds have a territory that uses part of the DSW and crosses Macarthur Ave into Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve. With records for 34 species of birds, the DSW makes a useful contribution to the urban population of native birds including the Gang-gang Cockatoo and the Little Eagle.
