User's notes

A strange little insect sighted on a handrail in ANBG's Rainforest Gully. When disturbed by the camera the insect raised two tiny white wing-like appendages on its rear end, alternately turned its rear and its head towards the camera and swayed from side to side. Presumably some type of defensive behavior.

I'm guessing Tim but the white looks like a waxy substance I've seen psyllids make before. I've photographed ladybirds eating the substance...
