This stem seems to have been the third of three stems to have flaked off at ground level from a single tree. It is the bole lying to the left in the picture. Control burns have significantly reduced the diameter of all four stems at the base. The roots appeared to be healthy. The root ball is small but some roots remain attached so there is potential for coppicing. No hollows had formed in this stem. There has been some epicormic growth following the big 2020 hailstorm.
