Part 9 of Moths of Victoria (Noctuoidea) has a page 3/4 fpr P. hypochalchis which provides guidelines for comapring P. hypochalcis and P. tibiata including distinguishing between the sexes in eith case. Based on those guidelines, this specimen closely fits the description and illustration for the P. hypochachis female which says: 'reddissh brown forwins'and for the reniform mark: 'dark bar of forewing narrow, diffues, slightly curved, bordered by pale strip'.
