I suspect that these are an early instar Saunders Case Moth. There were two of these on the same Grevillea as the Saunders. Both subsequently disappeared, however, there is now a second Saunders Case moth very close to where one of these unidentified moths were. It too has a scraggly bottom, much like these also with new green twigs attached at the top. See separate sighting. Will try to keep an eye on the new Saunders. The first attached itself to my garage door.

Is this isolated in protective custody?

Hi Don. This sighting was back in 2019. From memory this moth emerged as a Saunders Case moth.

Interesting. Shame about the uncertainty.

Hi Don I don't think there is any uncertainty. Perhaps I neglected to add links to previous sightings. Looking back I reported this case moth Metura elongatus (Saunders' case moth) The same day I also found this one Psychidae (family) IMMATURE (Unidentified case moth or bagworm) which I later updated Metura elongatus (Saunders' case moth) I only collected one of these specimens but the latter case grew to resemble the former and the larvae in both looked the same. The case I collected eventually emerged as this sighting Metura elongatus (Saunders' case moth) Sorry, this was before I knew to properly connect my sightings and to add to the original sighting rather than add a new one. Usually I did add a link to the original so not sure why I didn't on this occasion.
They were eating a grevillea.

Hi Alison,
Strictly speaking I suppose you should add this photo to Sighting No, 4348209. Would you agree to that Don?
