Hi Mike There is a two Leptospermum species and possibly a third scattered around that area on Farrer and Wanniassa. It is hard to tell from your photo L.continentale has prickly leaves it looks more like L. brevipes which has a similar form to that in your photo.

Need a photo of the hard fruit to make species ID

From the spent flowers, it could be Kunzea ericoides. Though in less faded flowers than I suspect these are, the stamens are much longer than in Leptospermum.

Thanks Betty, I was beginning to think Kunzea was a possibility because of the leaves. I will see if I have a close-up of the leaves.

It's definitely not Kunzea ericoides. I will go and check it when the weather gets a bit cooler.

I checked it and it is Baeckea Utilis on the edge of Long Gully Rd.

A pity there was no photo showing the opposite leaves. That would have immediately ruled out Leptospermum and Kunzea.

Thanks Julie, I just about made it there today but got distracted in Long Gully Swamp (not that it is swampy just now).
