Hi Kevin, the first photo shows a meat ant (Iridomyrmex purpureus) in the bottom right-hand corner, while the ant on the nest I can't ID - it could be a Camponotus or possibly a Melophorus. The nest is very interesting, as it seems to be made of carton rather than soil, so if you get the chance to take more photos with ants entering or exiting the nest it would be good to see them. Thanks Jon I have added 2 photos, the structure appears to be made from grasses, glued together rather than woven. I had thought it was soil until I looked at my photos on the computer and was quite surprised.
