This is a kleptoparasite of Amegilla, the Blue-banded bee. The Thyreus females steel the pollen collected by Amegilla. You may see Amegilla feeding herself on nectar and the parasite hovering behind her. I would love to find out how Thyreus finds the nest of Amegilla - perhaps following her? Very interesting.
