How is Pollanisus apicalis ruled out? I think that species is just as common in ACT.

What diagnostic features can I look for in future when photographing these small shiny green moths to possibly identify to species?

Identification to species in this genus is not as straightforward as one might expect if its just based on a digital image. There are different possibilities for similar looking images. See the discussion that took place for Sighting No 3870024: Pollanisis sp. (genus),

If this is being pushed back to genus then all of them under Pollanisus v-p should follow. Apparently they can be distinguished from the hindwing but I have no idea of the details. However the only way to photograph the hindwing clearly on a moth that does not spread its wings is to have a specimen pinned, or dead, that can be spread manually in hand.
