Hakea sericea has been widely planted in the area. From a photo without notes on flower size, it is impossible to distinguish them. Hakea decurrens has a pollen presenter (style) about 9-12 mm long. Hakea sericea has a pollen presenter about 5-8 mm long.

Betty at a least in the Canberra area H. decurrens has reddish outer branches as in this photo while H. sericea is greyish brown.
