Had a long tapered tail, definitely not a Shingleback.

I know my photo isn't conclusive for identification, although every time I've found reptiles in a granite crevice they've been Cunningham's ... other lizards have different habitat preferences. This is a photo of a Cunningham's that shows texture for comparison. Shinglebacks are far more "knobbly" http://davidcook.com.au/images/images_frogs_reptiles/cunningham's_skink.jpg

Nathaneal, the scales and colour are definitely not those of a Cunningham but are definitely consistent with local shingleback. All I can say is that you could not have seen a long tapering tail. Possibly its back leg may have looked like a tail. Geoff

Geoff, This definitely a Shingleback. Forget the colour, look at the long spiky tail!
