Could you get a closeup of the leaves.I cannot tell even if it is Dodonaea without that.

Hi Betty, not sure what exactly you are looking for in the leaves but here are a few more close ups. I hope they show enough detail.

It probably is a Dodonaea but not Dodonaea viscosa subsp. angustissima, which has leaves 1-6 mm wide. I suspect this is a wide-leaved form of Dodonaea viscosa subsp. spatulata (leaves in the PlantNET key 6-16 mm wide). To be definite one really needs mature seed cases.

My initial guess at genus was based on the apetalous male flowers I know of no other plants around the ACT with flowers that look like those in the image. My understanding of D. viscosa is that it has separate male and female plants, to have to rely on seed capsules when identifying male plants seems problematic as you could never identify them. As far as leaf width goes, if the scale in the later images is in cm & mm then the width appears <6mm. If the scale is in inches then width is >6mm.

Something went wrong with my maths when I was calculating leaf width. The scale is definitely in cm. (Scales in inches are normally divided into eighths). I now make the width about 3 mm and the l:w ratio about 11.5
