@MattM yeah, I had a look through and there are a few which definitely look right to me. Lach said the sepals tend to have that white outer edge, and yes, the post-anther lobe is never red, always yellow and a bit more "hoof-like" in appearance.
When I look at the gills I get the impression that the spores are very dark, darker than those of Agrocybe. That, the small stature and the lush grassy habitat make me think of Panaeolus. By no means sure!
I'm pretty sure I'm misidentifying a lot of them. Is part of the distinction between latifolia and brevifolia to do with how deeply slit and red the post-anther lobe is?
@MattM I've changed the species on this and other sightings on the advice of Lachlan Copeland, who confirmed these are indeed Thelymitra latifolia, which had been my suspicion for some time after a Thely expert from Vic suggested it on iNat a few years back with strong evidence. There are almost definitely others around locally which are being misidentified.
@Tapirlord I've recently had my odd, previously considered to be T brevifolia, plants looked at by Lachlan Copeland when I was staying with him a couple of weeks back, who confirms they are in fact T latifolia. This was suggested a couple of years ago by a Thely expert on iNat so I wanted his opinion. I've verified as such but thought you (and other orchid mods) may want an explanation.
