User's notes

Possibly Tetraponera, Black Tree Ant? A lone ant, very fast and active, and constantly on the move on the side of a tree.

Thanks Tim, a new species on NatureMapr for Canberra & Southern Tablelands! There are only a few records of this ant, but I have seen two species during surveys around the Canberra region, so they are around, if not very common. And this one is a queen - you can just see where the wings used to join the body. Cheers, Jon
