User's notes

After being away for two weeks, I was hoping to find evidence of chicks hatching at Baldy's new hollow. However, there has been no sign of GGs at the hollow at all. On Tuesday, in the rain, I heard GGs and found Baldy looking into his old hollow. After a few minutes, he flew off in the direction of the new hollow, but landed in a tree beyond it and started calling loudly. Eventually he flew off again to the north, and was followed shortly after by another bird. Today I found four wood ducks flying around from tree to tree in the area and then saw one go right into Baldy's new hollow where he stayed for about 4 minutes before emerging again. It looks like this season's chick/s have been lost, but I don't know when or why it happened. So sad!

@CarbonAI @MichaelMulvaney This is not a Zanda funerea, but a very wet Gang Gang, namely Baldy (100% certainty). He does not appear to have returned to this year's hollow since this sighting.

It's a pleasure doing this job @CathB. If you don't agree with any of my suggestions, please help me improve by verifying the correct species.

Thanks Cath - when Stacey inspected Baldy's hollow of this year it was occupied by a Brush Tail Possum - AR5 has also suffered the death of a chick - only one nest in the Aranda area is still going

Thanks Michael. When did that inspection happen?

Not sure on the exact date but the email I got from Stacey reporting her finding was on 30 November 2024 and she referred to the results from her "climbing this week"
