This is not C. sexplagiata Alison. There were many spp. photographed at the outing yesterday that have not been recorded on CNM before. I will be sending some of my pics to Allen and Mark to see what they think? They are both moderators for jewel beetles here but are yet to make any comments on the mother lode of buprestids we all discovered yesterday on that great little outing. I will be consulting the reference material I have when I can to try and determine some of the spp.

Interesting that images 1 and 5 have the 2nd fascia broken, image 3 has the 1st broken, and images 2 and 4 have none broken. But going solely on external appearance, I think it's closest to C. sexplagiata. The red areas on the margins of the elytra, typical of C. sexplagiata around Canberra, have retreated in this Bungonia species to the hind quarter.
If C. bella is the only other candidate, a dissection of the male genitalia should settle it: going on Barker's figures in his book, they are very different.

I think this species is probably a reduced pattern Castiarina pulla. I’m not sure how to post a picture of some examples however it is either Castiarina pulla or is undescribed.

@KimberiRP Kim, Are these different species? Should I separate them out and post separately. This was basically my first time at finding this Genus of jewel beetles and I didn't notice all the subtle differences in markings.

I think definitely load each individual separately. Looks like there are 3 separate individuals photographed

Not Castiarina pulla. This has to be in the Castiarina sexplagiata group, and is another of the strange and possibly undescribed Castiarina I have been talking about. Cheers, Allen M. Sundholm
