User's notes

This has me stumped. The loud buzzing, the hairy body, the colouring - I thought these were European honey bees. But their behaviour was not that of a honey bee. They all gathered in the same general area, landed on top of the grass, then in a twinkling, slipped under the leaves and disappeared. The bees were all separate from each other, but close to each other. Only one bee fed on flowers. To me, this was native bee behaviour - but I'm not sure. Are they males of the species, resting together (like the male bees that clump together in the evenings?)
