In grassy woodland under Exocarpos cupressiformis tree; spot sprayed with Starane and mapped with Field Maps Treated Weeds 2024/25. FoMM carries out control of Cleavers, Black Nightshade and other nutrient loving herbaceous weeds growing under the canopy of Native Cherry trees; we trial various methods: manual removal, spraying herbicide and combination of manual removal and herbicide spraying. We found that the herbicide that worked best is Starane, that spraying herbicide works better than hand removal where Cleavers were covering the ground completely, and that 2 follow-up treatments were necessary where infestations were heavy and most likely a large seed bank was present. We monitor closely and direct seed Weeping Grass in some situations to provide competition where patches of Cleavers were large and native ground cover slow to spread under the trees.
