Back in June 1988 The Canberra Times featured an article by 'INDIGOFERA' in her weekly 'Bush Capital' column on a visit, accompanied by volume four of 'Sites of Significance in the ACT,' to significant site T17, the 'Tuggeranong scribbly gums.'
A visit to this area in the present time shows plenty of E. rossii in varying growth stages on the top of the ridge itself, but that only two of the older trees have survived.
Image 1, tree 1: having a girth of around 4.65m and is still hanging on (though with many dead branches now appearing).
Image 2, tree 2: smaller of the two live trees with a girth of approx 3.4m.
Image 3, tree 3: the remains of a once majestic mammoth with a girth of some 5.85m.
