User's notes
In grassy woodland under group of Native Cherry (Exocarpos cupressiformis) and a dead yellow box, uphill of a site of high conservation value with endangered and rare species, orchids, and an assemblage of forbs typical of grassy woodlands. Fruiting Black Nightshade were cut and sprayed - the dead stems are visible in the first 2 photographs, or manually removed (site shown in 3rd photograph), and the cut / removed plant material piled up and covered with an apron to allow it to compost (4th photograph). The marker tapes visible in the first photo on the Exocarpos left hand side indicate a first treatment of Cleavers and other nutrient loving herbaceous weeds in 2023. The yellow tape indicates manual weeding; orange tape indicates follow-up spraying, (unfortunately, the colours faded). The pink tape indicates manual and spraying treatment of mainly Nightshade in autumn 2024 (20th March 2024); Cleavers were greatly reduced. Mapped with Field Maps / Treated Weeds / Herbaceous. Work on this site is part of a project of Friends of Mt Majura ParkCare group to tackle herbaceous weeds - particularly Cleavers - in the nutrient enriched soils under Native Cherry (Exocarpos cupressiformis) trees. Volunteers began the "Treatment of Cleavers under Native Cherry" project in 2022 south of The Fair project site.
