User's notes

A surprise hitch hicker on a family member. I'm assuming this is a tick, and am hugely interested in the ID - I thought Canberra was too cold for ticks, but I suppose it depends on the tick and the host animals?

The paralysis tick Ixodes holocyclus is largely confined to coastal bushland and adjacent ranges but local marsupials carry other species of hard tick in the ACT. Photographic ID guides can be accessed on the internet
