Interesting bolete that I have been unable to identify using any of my Australian fungi guides. Located between an exotic street tree (non-chinese elm?) and a stringy-barked eucalypt (in someone's yard, couldn't get a closer look). Initially suspected it was a discoloured Boletus barragensis due to the cap appearance, stem shape and reddish colour, however it lacks stem reticulation, has the wrong coloured spores, and is overall too chunky.
Based on the morphology, the closest match I found online was a variety of Boletus luridiformis (https://boletales.com/genera/boletus/b-luridiformis/). All the characteristics match pretty well, but I am still uncertain since there are no previous records of this species occurring in Australia. Curious to see what other people think.
