A slime mould - one for Teresa.

Is that the natural colour or was this image taken late in the day?
On bark, suggestive of a Physaraceae, but still too immature to ID further.

Hi Teresa
It was on a pile of woodchips. The colour is reasonably 'true'. This object is similar to one I saw and recorded in Nature Map which was also on a pile of woodchips at Blue Gum Point.

Thanks Con,
very interesting, I'd need to observe the spores to be 100% certain, but there is a Fuligo sp. which has a very orangy plasmodial stage, something not seen often. The colour may have come from the substrate, or what ever the plasmo was feeding on, so this also makes ID from images quite difficult. Great observation.
