It’s from the sighting 4538608 - 28 December?

@LisaH : Sorry about the misprint. Thankyou for the interesting answer.
Did the grey moth emerge from the case? Is the grey moth the same individual as that in sighting 4543876.

As far as I know, the grey moth photographed emerged from the case. I’d collected the case (hope that’s okay and ethical) and there was no other moth in the container. I went away for a few days, and discovered the moth in the container when I returned - hence its worn appearance. That’s when I noticed the pupa case at the end of the tower case, which was not there when I collected the specimen. Hope that helps. I was surprised how small the moth was compared to the size of the case.

Wow. It is hard to reconcile your grey moth with the photos at https://v3.boldsystems.org/index.php/Taxbrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=326580
Anyway I have added copies of parts of your photo to
http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/psyc/arctiella.html
I hope you approve? Thanks, Don

Should I have kept the moth? I just don't know what's known and what's not. I agree - this doesn't look like the moth in the link at all. All I know is - there was no moth in the container when I collected the tower, and then, less than two weeks later, there was this grey moth, and a pupa/chrysalis (not sure which word to use) emerged from the end of the tower. Happy for you to use the photos and information in any way that will be useful. Thank you for the interesting conversation!

Sad you did not keep the moth for, say, ANIC. You will just have to rear another one.
