Hi Alison. The larger beetles are P. rhiphidium, but I think the smaller, paler ones are different. There were plenty of mating pairs of the larger ones and both were of similar size, so it's not a sex difference.
@CathB Hi Cath, I agree with you but you need to separate out the smaller beetles into a new sighting. I based my ID on the first photos. Regards Alison
Thanks Alison. I have changed the order of the photos so that now the main one shows two of the smaller beetles only, while the other three photos show the small ones with the larger Porrostoma rhiphidium for comparison.
