It's probably a Copperhead but the images don't seem to show any diagnostic feature except that it appears a flat black colouring like a Copperhead rather than glossy black of a Black Snake
John and Simon, I would suggest it is a Highlands Copperhead - based on the creamy lower laterals towards the front of the snake (starting just behind the head) and further back about halfway down the length of the snake. This feature can be clearly seen on the image I am viewing. I agree about the lack of a glossy sheen. Will.
