Slightly unusual for P. proliferum as the pinnae tips are rounded. Were any spores or proliferous tips visible?

Stipes are a bit odd for Hypolepis. I'm thinking something like Diplazium australe, but the chevron sporangia would tell. I have seen D. australe in the Blue Range in the past (destroyed when they cut down the pines in the 1980s). I'm certain also that there is more than just one species of Polystichum in the Blue Range and Brindabellas.

Ooooh ok, more interesting than I had thought then. Diplazium would be fantastic. Sadly not sporangia present (I did check several fronds).

I could be wrong about Diplazium, but is well worth watching out for. There were some plants growing in the ANBG ten years ago in the Sydney Region section, so it's likely a local species.

Also re Polystichum, see the bottom photo on https://www.dcnicholls.com/byzantium/ferns/descriptions/polystichum/pproliferum.html
