Jon, I'm pretty sure these are Hairy Coconut Ants, but oddly were in a tree adjacent to a colony of Shiny Coconut Ants. They definitely appeared larger, and also more reddish, and you can just see some "hairs" on some of them in the close up. I did squish one and definitely coconut smell. Interested to hear your thoughts ..
