User's notes

Went back to the original site and scouted around to find a few other colonies nearby. In total, 29 plants in flower/going to seed at that location. Looked on the other side of the creek, and the other side of the road, but couldn't find any more. Lots of other plants not in flower (only leaves present). A very healthy colony!

@MatthewFrawley Thank you! I'm really happy with it. Now to find a good telephoto lens...

@DPRees125 ah, is this the same spot as yours? Also, are you David Rees on FB, by any chance?

@DPRees125 ah! Good to know.

I just looked at your sighting and yes, it is the same location. I didn't realise! I wasn't actually there looking for these, nor did I even know what they were when I found them. I just know the spot well as a pretty, moist spot with lots of plants and butterflies, so thought it would be a good spot for a look around. Fun coincidence! There are a few spots which are similar nearby which I plan to check when I get back from overseas.

Funny thing was neither was I, thought a good spot for orchids then looked down and lowe and behold. Good spot for butterflies and I have visited the spot many times

@DPRees125 every step prompted a fluttering of Heteronympha when I was there, it was great! It's always been a favourite spot of mine (as was Lowden prior to the fires), but even more reason, now!
