Exciting news! The gang gangs at this hollow have not only moved in to the hollow, they are incubating at least one egg. Time line so far:
Galahs:
16/9/23 - galah's first noted nesting in hollow: 16/10/23 - galahs recorded feeding young in hollow; 2/11/23 - young galah high in hollow opening - which must have been close to fledging.
Gang gangs:
7/11/23 - male came out of hollow, looked around, went straight back down; 8/11/23 - female looked out of hollow, then quickly went down again; 9/11/23 - galah noisily being annoyed as it looked down at male gang gang, who was peering out of hollow (photo 3). Thanks to Tom and Cameron, who poled the hollow, we discovered that the gang gangs are, in fact, incubating.
Fingers crossed the gliders keep away this time . . .
